The PRI wants to encourage an active dialogue between signatories and the Board. The Signatory General Meeting (the SGM), the annual general meeting of signatories, is an important forum for communication between the Board, Executive and signatories. The Board encourages signatory participation via webcast.
The SGM is an opportunity for the Board to report to signatories on the PRI’s strategy and its implementation; the work undertaken by the Board and its committees; forthcoming Board elections; any formal consultations or non-binding resolution results; and any other ordinary and special business. Signatories can put forward agenda items to the SGM for discussion.
SGM 2025
The SGM was an online event, and to accommodate the PRI’s global signatory base, there were two SGMs held on 21 October 2025: at 08:00 – 09:30 BST and 17:00 – 18:30 BST.

Questions
After the later SGM had closed the PRI received two further questions. These questions and answers are posted below.
Can the PRI share details on the scoring system that will be applied to the 2026 reporting period considering the reduced number of questions? And how signatories can promote scored performance publicly?
The 2026 Reporting Framework retains similar indicators to previous reporting cycles, but features changes in structure, content and design, resulting in updated assessment criteria and scoring. The modular star assessment approach will continue, but these are not directly comparable to those received in previous years. Based on a detailed evaluation, signatories are awarded up to five stars for responsible investment practice across different domains of responsible investment. We believe this will provide an accurate view of responsible investment practices and allows for peer comparison, while reducing the risk of misinterpretation that an overall organisational score could create. This approach has been used across all PRI reporting frameworks for the past decade.
More details on indicator level assessment criteria and overall assessment methodology will be released on 4 November. Guidelines on how signatories can share their assessment report publicly will remain similar to current publication guidelines which are available at the Reporting outputs webpage.
Would PRI ever consider working directly with SBTi? One reason companies cite dropping out is because of how unrealistic guidance is especially for Scope 3.
The PRI welcomes the work of the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTI). It is essential that investors have robust science-based way to navigate climate risk and opportunity. Not simply for measurement and compliance, but for strategic decision making. We already work closely with the SBTI in a number of areas. For example: through the Net Zero Asset Managers (NZAM) initiative where they helped to develop one of the frameworks for net zero target setting; as well as bringing their expertise into discussions we are having at PRI in Person sessions in Sao Palo.
We will continue to work with leading organisations and experts to provide decision useful information to investors. For example, our forthcoming briefing on transition planning will discuss how emissions metrics can be complemented by several approaches for strategic decision-making on the climate transition.
